The science behind Vasthu friendly villa homes

Believe it or not, many modern architects argue that there’s much more to Vastu than what meets the eye. According to their theory, Vasthu Shastra as the name suggests is a science which has its roots in Indian philosophy, maths, geology, and geography. Believe it or not, many modern architects argue that there’s much more to Vastu than what meets the eye. According to their theory, Vasthu Shastra as the name suggests is a science which has its roots in Indian philosophy, maths, geology, and geography. If you look at it deeply, Vastu suggestions are not carelessly drawn out of arbitrary assumptions. Rather, it takes every factor relating to the site into account and proposes a design which will let the owners have all the advantages of the topography, roads, nearby structures and sunlight.

Amit Murao, an architect from Delhi, in his article about vasthu tips for home, says, “Vasthu is a science based on climatology and has very little to do with religion and spirituality.” He goes on to say that it guides people to construct their building (be it home, office or shop) in a better way for overall prosperity and healthy living.

History of Vastu
It is believed that 18 Indian saints including Maya, Mansara, Bhrigu and Vishwakarma have laid out the basic rules of Vastu Shastra thousands of years ago. Manoj Kalantri, who has a Ph D in Vastu shastra, in an article says, “The epics Ramayana and Mahabharata contain description of cities with multi-storeyed buildings with spacious balconies and porticoes. It is said that the site plan of Ayodhya city was like the plan found in the great architectural text Manasara.”

More than anything else Vasthu is followed to add value to the life of people who reside in the building. The harmony between the residents, nature and the structure plays an important part in bringing peace and comfort. Since Vasthu is all about following the five elements, it is believed that disrupting the balance of these elements would bring negative energies and may result in stress and bad health.

According to Vasthu, interplay between the five elements and the eight directions – East, West, North, South, North-East, South-East, South-West and North-West can influence your life negatively or positively depending on the balance.

Vastu in villas

Most modern architects follow Vastu rules to a T, as the demand for Vastu compliant homes is much higher than before. The buyers believe that purchasing a home that is aligned to Vastu concepts is much more risk free.

Fortius Infra’s villa project Under the Sun is in line with the concept of holistic living. Not only are the villa layouts out as per the basic Vastu principles but they are also being built in such a way that light and air are available all throughout the day. A special two-level courtyard is designed around the drawing room and other areas for ventilation. The lower floor level windows extend sunlight into master spaces. Surrounded by natural elements, these villas give out positive energy to both the residents and the visitors.
